Video: Trey Songz & Drake

Trey Songz reworked Successful for his album Ready in stores tomorrow, and has released a video for the single.

DOTW: I Look To You

After seven years, Ms. Whitney Houston is back with I Look To You. The album releases (legally) tomorrow, September 1st.

So I’ve heard it a million times, women saying they “need a man”

& there is just so many things wrong with that sentence.

1. Besides Diddy & Trey, I’ve never really heard a man talking about he needs a girl

Unless he’s some kind of player/ scrub who needs a girl to fund his life and/or feed his ego (but that’s the guy you shouldn’t want). Also, guys tend to know exactly what they want in a woman, either they’re looking for a coochie to sleep in or they’re on their grown man shit and desire a real woman, “wifey material”, someone who complements them in every way. But with or without his perfect mate, a guy will be okay unless he falls into the no-good-scrub category.

Hidden Treasure: Jesse Boykins III

Independent singer/songwriter Jesse Boykins III is adding a new depth to soul music with his timeless sound, ingenious lyrics and prolific ear for production and arrangement. The emotion put into every note and every word in his first album, The Beauty Created, shows the singers' attention to detail and love for his craft. No fan of soul music can do without this body of work in their collection.

I keep hearing about how passion always dies in relationships/marriages & I must say it is quite depressing.

I know there are some exceptions to the rule but why do the majority of relationships become a part of this awful statistic?

What causes the fire to burn out?

Now I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I’ve come up with a few suggestions to help save you and yours from a dried up, intimate- less, relationship….

1. Be yourself… from the very beginning.

It seems that when people first meet they do a little more (or wayyy more) than they usually would. Some might say they enjoy things they actually don’t, some might do things that they feel are necessary to keep their new found boos interested. But like all lies, the truth will eventually come out … so keep it real from the get go. If you don’t feel like writing poems, buying roses or brushing your teeth then don’t fake it.

I <3 Theme Songs

Fresh Prince

My two biggest obsessions, music and television, so happen to comingle in a little piece of heaven called a theme song. They are short and sweet, and catchy; getting right to the heart of the matter in a minute or less. There's something about a great theme song that can make any show that much better.

Below are some of my favorite, from the Broadway-esque intro of The Nanny to Queen Latifah's hip hop, jazz infused theme for Living Single; my love for theme songs shows my eclectic nature best.

What's your favorite show opener?

It appears 36 year old DJ AM born Adam Goldstein has passed away. His body was found today by a police officer, paraphernalia was apparently on his person. Check out the report on Nah Right.

This has been one cruel summer, especially for the music world.

RIP Michael Jackson
RIP Baatin

Videos: The Foreign Exchange & Mary J. Blige

One of my favorite tracks off The Foreign Exchange's 2008 album Leave It All Behind. It's a great video, creative plot and suspenseful ending. It's a must watch!

MJB released the video for her auto tuned laced track The One featuring Drake.

Here's a funny video about how Facebook can eat away at a relationship. In my opinion, the internet (Myspace, FaceBook, etc) can only come between a relationship standing on a shaky foundation. I know plenty of couples who gladly display their In A Relationship status and have been doing quite well for some time now. Then, there are the couples whose statuses change bi-weekly like clock work.

We complicated now?....You now what's complicated you're momma borrowing twenty dollars every week, that's complicated. I feel like I got her on payroll...

I had a good laugh. Thoughts?

Mixtape of the Moment: Donnis

Presented by the clothing line 10 Deep, 'ATL Brave' Donnis revealed his "diary" in the form of a week ago today. While he's from the South, his sound is the anti-thesis of other material coming out of the region, showing it is possible to make a fun record with lyrical substance, who'd a thunk it? His mixtape features some LVSXM favorites; heavy weights Bun B and Marsha Ambrosius, as well as new comers Brandon Hines and Colin Munroe. First Kid Cudi, now Donnis, 10 Deep sure knows how to pick 'em.

The Rainbow Coalition

Music Playlist at MixPod.com

Straight from Nah Right, some of the best to ever do it join young up and comer Drake as he remakes a track entitled, Forever which was originally on his second mixtape, Comeback Season. All in all, the track is okay. Eminem's verse is the only one that really made me pay attention at the first listen.

Judge for yourselves.

I have no words for this song. I have no words for this video. This is foolishness at its finest.

Videos: Slum Village, Little Dragon, Phil Ade

The first single off their upcoming album Villa Manifesto, directed by the multi-talented singer Dwele. RIP Baatin

Hidden Treasure: Lyrical God

Poet/MC Lyric aka Lyrical God came through SOBs Sol-Village this past June, where he did his thing in the basement for Erro and the other artists. Eric was so impressed he had him perform it onstage. I don't have footage from that night, but the video above is what he performed. Bluntly, this young man is a beast.

How Many Licks

A wise naked little boy once asked “how many licks does it take to get to the center…”

But we are not going to focus on tootsie pops…

This post is about something else that gets a lot of licks…

Yes, I’m talking about Vagina

Although Lil’ Kim wrote a song about the topic,

she never actually answers the question so I’ll pick up where she left off...

Now we all know that during sex it generally takes women longer to orgasm then it does men, unless you’re in that 2% of women that “enjoy” about 10 orgasms a day ….

But any who, when it comes to cunninglingus, it all depends on whoever is delivering the licks... (Continue)...

I Miss You, Aaliyah

RIP Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001)

It's been eight years, and I don't think it's gotten any easier, for me at least. Anytime I hear her name I always remember the day a twelve year old girl turned on the television to find her favorite singer gone.

Kinky Tuesdays: Blind LoVe

They say love is blind…but sex can be blind too.

No, I’m not saying that you should have sex with some stranger or someone who’s below your standards

I’m talking about blindfolds.

Yes, it’s Tuesday, ain’t sh*t going on, so once again LVSXMUSIC is going to help you make something happen…

First: acquire le blindfold…

I’m sure all the freaks out there already have one in their goodie bag but for the rest of you, you can make a blindfold out of many things that you might have lying around: a scarf, a bandana, a shirt, a small towel…

Listen Up!: I Look To You

Listen to Whitney Houston's new LP, I Look To You, before it hits stores August 31st NOW! It's currently streaming on her official website www.whitneyhouston.com.

I took a listen to it earlier today and I was very pleased with what Ms. Houston had to offer. It's not the Whitney of yesteryear, but what she would sound like in 2009 as a mature woman comfortable in her own skin and confident in her style and sound.

Let me know what you guys think of Ms. Houston's comeback!

REVIEW: Music Fan First

Independent artist Eric Roberson is back to show us, above all, he's a Music Fan First. His last album Left had gems like Pen Just Cries Away, Only For You, Right or Wrong and Couldn't Hear Her, so I've been anxiously anticipating his new LP. Mr. Roberson gives us seventeen all new tracks to sing along to from poignant love stories like She to light hearted tunes like Borrow You.

Before I Was Born: Build Me Up Buttercup

The Foundations timeless 1968 hit still spins on major radio stations, has been covered numerous times and featured in movies like There's Something About Mary.

Deuce Burger: Today

Today (Zero 7) by The Five One

For this week's deuce burger, The Five One added a verse to London duo Zero 7's track Today off their 2006 album The Garden.

Q&A: Wale, Lupe Fiasco, & XV

The good people over at Soul Culture met up with Wale, where the subject matter ranged from a collaboration with Chrisette Michele, to insecurity, and Nigerian pride. His debut Attention: Deficit has been pushed back to an October 20th release date. Listen, jam to, DL and then jam some more to his recently leaked track My Sweetie HERE.

International Treasure: Ebony Bones!

If you've read my Unvieled blurb then you know I'm all about C.O.L.O.U.R.S; so when this flamboyant rainbow explosion called Ebony Bones! appeared in my inbox I was more than intrigued.

What He Said: "When you’re not around"

An ode to great lyricists...

Ever hear a song that you simply fell in love with?

The beat: perfect

The voice: perfect

& most importantly the lyrics made you feel

The combination of beautiful, honest lyrics and a good artist make for a song that you will never get sick of because it takes you there and when you hear it, you can’t help but sing it…

One such song is “When you’re not around” by Casely.

The Good Ole Days: New Jack Swing Era

The musical sound described as new jack swing reigned the radio waves of the late 80s to mid 90s, courtesy of the man with many hats, producer/singer/songwriter/musician Teddy Riley.

ON or OFF???

For many couples it seems to be a given that when they’re about to get it on, the lights must go off.

But there is a growing amount of people who now prefer it with the lights on, but it doesn’t mean that they’re partner is going to be interested or willing…

There is a good amount of guys who want to see…everything

All the movements of your body,

All your natural curves and especially the face that you make when you are loving it and when you reach your grand finale

BUT not everyone gets excited at the thought of having someone see them during such intimate & personal moments, even their own partner.

REVIEW: Machine Dreams

Swedish soul, electronic group Little Dragon is back with their sophomore album Machine Dreams. Staying true to their unique sound, long awaiting fans like myself, won't be disappointed.

Kinky Tuesdays: Freaky Factz

Another Tuesday…no idea what you’ve been doing all day but I’ve got some freaky facts to stimulate your Tuesday … & possibly inspire/ enhance your Tues-Night

So it’s no secret that I love chocolate, scratch that, I’m a fiend for chocolate…honestly what’s not to love? Anyway, I heard a long time ago that eating chocolate gives you the same amount of pleasure as sex. I know a lot of you won’t agree or understand this but no worries I don’t really remember my source but I have new news about the sexual power of chocolate...

15 Minutes: The Alumni

Mississippi rappers Big K.R.I.T and Big Sant take LVSXM down south for this 15 minute feature.

10 Love Commandments

If you’ve been keeping up with my posts then you know that I believe that when it comes to love there are no rules but Johnta Austin has come up with 10 love commandments which he believes to be the manual for finding love…& sex...

#1. "Never be the fool to let your spouse be gone too long cuz ya know that jealousy eventually leads to hatred and the longer that you take it, its gon’ turn to betrayal

Before I Was Born: Oh Sheila!

Pop/soul group Ready For The World was most known for this 1985 hit single, rumored to be about one of Prince's many female proteges Sheila E.

Music Fan First

The August 25th release date of Eric Roberson's new album Music Fan First is fast approaching. In anticipation, he has started a vlog, Seventeen Days of Music Fan First, where he gives insight about one of the 17 tracks on the album every day, leading up to the release.

A friend sent me this video yesterday, and I had to share it. There are so many things wrong with this short three minute video.

Why is he humping the wall? Why are his breasts out? Who's the chick directing this video, and encouraging this foolishness? Why is he dancing like that? What the hell is he rapping about???

If you don't want to be utterly confused and possibly appalled today, then don't watch this video.

Here's some this weeks Best:

Mixtapes of the Moment: Phil Ade & XV

After The Five One Band released their remix to Phil Ade's Blown Away last week, I took the initiative to listen to the Maryland rapper's entire mixtape, Starting on JV. To put it simply, this mixtape bumps HARD!

Video: Brandon Hines

Up and coming R&B singer Brandon Hines covered Maxwell's Pretty Wings. Someone dare cover Maxwell you say? No worries, he does the song so much justice, and I fall in love with it even more, which I didn't think was possible.

Be on the look out for Mr. Hines! He's been doing his thing for a while, and I expect greatness from him. I had the pleasure of meeting him and he's such a humble young individual, which makes me like him even more. A Hidden Treasure post is coming on him soon! He'll be featured on Eric Roberson's forthcoming album Music Fan First (releasing Aug 25th), as well as performing at SOBs alongside Mike Posner for the annual CMJ showcase in October.

This was spotted at MADOnly! Shout out to Ms. Billie Sunshine & Potential!

Deuce Burger: It's So Obvious

&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;a href="http://thefiveone.bandcamp.com/album/5109-the-remix-album-2"&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;It's Obvious (Janelle Monae) by The Five One&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/a&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;

The Five One Band is back with another great deuce burger, where they encourage us to stop avoiding the truth. This week, they cover the quirky Janelle Monae, I'm not sure which song it is, but when I do, you'll know too. ENJOY!

You run around your problems, your issues are facing you, but you never were responsible...

**UPDATED** > The song they are covering is Ms. Monae's Mr. President. Listen to it HERE.

15 Minutes: TheWerd

My favorite Cali emcee of the moment TheWerd enlists the help of my favorite Cali emcee of all time to tell us a little bit about where they're from.

Does Anyone Need Candy Eggs

No? Okay.

Moving on…

So, one way to tell if your song is a hit, is if it get’s sampled, remixed or covered by other artists and/or DJ’s. Some songs experience this once while others such as D.A.N.C.E by Justice get “used” many, many times. Now the song was released in 2007 but I must admit that I only heard it recently. My first encounter with the song was earlier this year when I heard the Sophia Fresh version “Do the dance” which is their latest single.

MUSIC VIDEOS: Kooley High & Twista

Here are a couple of new music videos that are actually worth watching:

Kooley High- Kooley is high

Kinky Tuesdays: Unconventional Pleasure

Kinky: “marked by unconventional sexual preferences or behavior, as fetishism, sadomasochism, or the like”.

This Kinky post is definitely unconventional …

So I stumbled upon these two “unconventional” sex toys & I had to wonder…really?

The Accommodator

Before I Born: Party All The Time!

The comedian tried his hand at music back in 1985, and the result was a one hit wonder.

Hidden Treasure: George Nozuka

I want this more than anything

Stay Up by George

This hidden treasure is the soulful voice, the beautiful lyrics and the smooth beat. He embodies his music and his passion is felt through every word he sings. A few seconds of one song was all it took for me to fall in love with this artist & I’ve been hooked ever since

George Nozuka (George) is an R&B/Pop singer of Japanese & Canadian/American decent. George was born in Queens, New York but would later move to Canada with his mother & 6 siblings. His interest in singing/performing began at the age of 12 and with idols such as Michael Jackson, it’s no surprise how soulful his music is. Prior to his solo career, George was a part of a couple musical groups until he met Chris Jacob Huyer who introduced him to Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys. Howie signed George to his then new record label HC Entertainment Group and in 2006, at the age of 20, George released his first album Believe.

Video: FeFe Dobson - I Want You

The Canadian punk rock star is back! Since Island Def Jam gave her the boot in 2004, she's been MIA. Now an independent artist, she plans on releasing her new album Joy this fall. This is the video for her first single I Want You.

Chopped & Skrewed

The song is basically a testimonial of how T-Pain has gotten played by some females, mainly in club settings, and I must say, I don’t doubt a single word in the song but I‘m pretty sure he’s not the only man that has been chopped & skrewed.

It seems like there are a lot of women who believe that they don’t need to buy their own drinks because they are cute, so if you send a drink their way, they’ll take it and even humor you with a little conversation even though they are not interested.

It must hurt one’s ego to get played like that, no wonder some guys are so nervous in clubs & at parties. Watching some guys try to build up the nerve to dance with a girl is absolutely hilarious.

15 Minutes: Sannmantrackz

Check out this producer's track and sign the Twitition if you think it's worthy of 15 minutes of fame.

If I Were A Boy...

First Ciara, then Beyonce but I’m pretty sure there are people who thought about getting a sex change wayyy before these two.

Actually I’m positive they just didn’t write songs about it

But any who, the hypothetical sex change is such a fun topic but I see it a bit differently than the aforementioned divas

First of all I wouldn’t want to be a boyyoung, bird-chested and a little dick? No thanks.

Deuce Burger: Blown Away!

&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;a href="http://thefiveone.bandcamp.com/album/5109-the-remix-album-2"&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;Blown Away (Phil Ade) by The Five One&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/a&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;
